According to CoinMeta, OpenAI will terminate its cooperation with Cursor after a transaction with SpaceX. OpenAI plans to stop providing models to Cursor due to Cursor being acquired by Elon Musk's SpaceX, which has increased competition in the development tools market. OpenAI notified SpaceX on August 28th that it plans to end its agreement with Cursor on November 12, 2026, due to changes in control and concerns regarding whether SpaceX will comply with the contract terms. Cursor has not been accused of violating any agreements. OpenAI pointed out that there have been past disputes with other companies controlled by Musk. SpaceX completed the acquisition of Cursor's parent company, Anysphere, in August, for a transaction amount of approximately $60 billion. Cursor confirmed that it officially became part of SpaceX on August 14th. This transaction took place after SpaceX's initial public offering in June; SpaceX went public on NASDAQ on June 12th at a price of $135 per share, ultimately raising about $85.7 billion.
