Anatoly Popov: Russia's compliant crypto trading expected to reach $46.43 billion in its first year

According to CoinMeta, as reported by an early issuer of in, the vice chairman of Russia's Sberbank Executive Committee, Anatoly Popov, stated that the scale of compliant crypto transactions in Russia is expected to reach 4 trillion rubles in the first year, which is approximately 46.43 billion US dollars, and will increase to 7.5 trillion rubles by 2029, equivalent to about 87.06 billion US dollars. In the first year, about 20% of the transaction volume, or 3.5 to 4 trillion rubles, will be conducted through exchanges. The relevant regulations will come into effect on September 1st; non-qualified investors will be able to purchase up to 300,000 rubles worth of crypto assets per year, while qualified investors are limited to 3 million rubles. Currently, official exchanges can only trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDT. Exchanges will have until July 1, 2027, to complete their registration.
