Swiss banking insiders expect that the Swiss National Bank will maintain zero interest rates until 2027

According to CoinMeta, a survey by the Swiss Bankers Association indicates that Swiss banking professionals expect the Swiss National Bank (SNB) to maintain the benchmark interest rate at 0% for the remainder of this year and in 2027. All respondents predict that the SNB will keep the interest rate at 0% for the rest of 2026, with 60% of them believing that this policy will continue into next year. Approximately 40% of the respondents anticipate that the SNB will start raising interest rates next year, with most predicting that the policy rate will rise to 0.25%, while another respondent expects it to be raised to 0.5%. The SNB will announce the results of its next monetary policy assessment on September 24th, and current market pricing suggests that there is a 97% probability of the interest rate remaining unchanged. The market expects the first interest rate hike to occur in June, with an expected increase of 25 basis points to 0.25%.
