2026-08-31 17:06:15
According to CoinMeta, blockchain security platform Blockaid reported that attackers exploited the Ankr liquidity staking tokens and efficiency mode (e-mode) to withdraw approximately $9.3 million in Wrapped Flow (wflow) tokens from various market reserves. This incident resulted in a total loss of $139.7 million for cryptocurrency hackers in August 2026, making it the third largest month for stolen funds that year. Nevertheless, this loss is a reduction from the $254 million incurred in July. Blockaid also noted that more markets have not yet officially confirmed this incident or disclosed whether users have suffered any losses.
