According to CoinMeta, the European Commission stated on Monday that ChatGPT under OpenAI will have to comply with stricter EU regulations, such as removing illegal content, otherwise they may face fines. At the same time, Brussels is working to clarify how the existing digital regulatory framework applies to rapidly developing artificial intelligence services. Under the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA), ChatGPT, social media platform Reddit, and gaming platform Roblox will be classified as "super-large online platforms" and will bear additional obligations, including removing illegal content and protecting the privacy and safety of minors. If they fail to comply with these regulations, they could face fines equivalent to up to 6% of their global revenue. This decision marks an expansion of DSA's regulatory scope to the field of generative artificial intelligence. Previously, the artificial intelligence chatbot Grok on the social platform X had already faced investigations under this law.
