According to CoinMeta, the Australian Federal Police and the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) jointly announced the successful disruption of an international crypto-money laundering operation involving global cybercrime. As a result of this operation, two men from Western Australia were arrested. They were charged with hiding malicious code in open-source software, stealing over 500,000 credentials, and affecting more than 1,000 organizations. Deputy Commissioner Daud Andish emphasized that "hiding behind computer screens is no longer a shield under the law." This case demonstrates the capabilities of law enforcement agencies to track and confiscate cryptocurrencies and other assets on a global scale.
