The statement pointed out that no ships had hit mines within the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media, citing reports from the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, claimed that the super tanker caught fire after hitting the mine and stopped sailing, stating that the tanker "was attempting to illegally cross the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz at that time."
