According to CoinMeta, the founder of protocol watch, Christine D, stated that Bitcoin Core v32 completed its functional freeze on August 20th. Developers are currently focusing on fixing bugs and making small-scale optimizations, with the official version expected to be released in October of this year. The main updates to v32 include increasing the block verification speed by up to three times through multi-core parallel processing, implementing a global transaction queue and rate limits, which enhances the stability of nodes during sudden surges in transaction volume. Additionally, a fee estimation mechanism based on the mempool status has been added to reduce overestimation of fees. This update does not involve any changes to the protocol rules at the network level of Bitcoin.
