According to CoinMeta, EU defense ministers held an informal meeting on September 1st local time to discuss military support for Ukraine, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and the situation in the Middle East, among other topics. After the meeting, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Catherine Caspari, stated that the Ukrainian defense minister once again emphasized that air defense remains one of Ukraine's most urgent needs. However, no substantial progress was made in discussions among the defense ministers of the member states on this matter. Caspari noted that the EU is seeking additional sources of air defense equipment and interceptors and called on member states to re-evaluate their own stockpiles, considering providing or selling the soon-to-expire interceptors from the “Patriot” air defense system to Ukraine.
