EIP-8363 Proposal: Ethereum Staking Rewards to Be Reduced by 58.6%
2026-09-03 18:57:11
According to CoinMeta, the EIP-8363 proposal aims to destroy more validator rewards as the stake rate increases, with 100% destruction being achieved when 50% of the supply is staked. Based on the current stake volume of approximately 42.2 million ETH, the issuance volume will be reduced by about 58.6%, and the number of APR staked will decrease by about 56.4%, resulting in an annual reduction of about 633,000 ETH. This is valued at around $1.55 billion. The model indicates that under a reasonable minimum yield for stakers, the system could eventually stabilize at a stake rate of 26% to 34% and an annual inflation rate of 0.3% to 0.5%. The article analyzes that no significant relationship was found between the stake yield and the price of ETH, but since about 34.2% of the collateral in the Ethereum lending market consists of stake yield derivatives, the leveraged stake cycle may be impacted. The core goal of this proposal is to reduce inflation and limit the risk of stake concentration.
