US Dollar Depreciation: 30-Year Treasury Yield Hits a Nearly 20-Year High
2026-09-04 04:38:52
According to CoinMeta, despite the 30-year Treasury yield reaching its highest level in nearly 20 years, the US dollar is still depreciating. The DXY index fell from near 102 to below 99 in August. The RMB has appreciated against the US dollar, and the Japanese yen rose by 1.5% due to expectations of a interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan. The US's $40 trillion in national debt, the rising deficit, and concerns about the Treasury Department's expanded repurchase program are all putting pressure on the US dollar. Investors are demanding higher yields to hold long-term US debt, while the US dollar continues to weaken. Friday's employment report will be the next test.
