IMF claims that the funds for increasing Bitcoin holdings in El Salvador come from private donations, and it is not expected to increase holdings in the future

According to CoinMeta, as reported by Bitcoin News, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that since the first project review in June 2025, El Salvador's purchases of Bitcoin have been funded entirely by private donations, without any use of public resources. Furthermore, the Salvadoran government does not plan to increase its holdings of Bitcoin in the future. In addition, IMF staff has reached an agreement with El Salvador regarding the latest project review, which involves financing of $140 million.
