According to CoinMeta, the Bank for International Settlements has released working paper 1374, proposing a technical solution based on XRP Ledger to verify the source and integrity of official statistical data. This solution generates cryptographic fingerprints for the SDMX dataset and records the summary values of bulk data in XRP Ledger; the original data is not stored on the blockchain. Users can verify the identity of data publishers and whether the data has been tampered with by using digital signature credentials in conjunction with single-chain queries. Prototype tests have shown that data publication takes 3 to 5 seconds, while the verification process takes 1 to 2 seconds. The system is currently in the proof-of-concept phase and has not yet been deployed in a formal production environment.
