According to CoinMeta, as reported by Decrypt, four long-dormant Bitcoin wallets became active again between August 29 and September 4, transferring a total of 202.84 BTC, worth approximately $15.73 million. Among them, the largest address held 146.06 BTC, which had been dormant since November 2013 for nearly 12.8 years. Calculated at a cost of about $595, the gain was approximately 12,902%. Another address held 40 BTC, which had not been active since November 2011, and is currently worth about $3.09 million, with an average cost of about $3, representing a gain of about 2,571,899%. In addition, there were addresses holding 10 and 6.78 BTC that had not been active since June 2011 and February 2011, respectively. The recipient of the 6.78 BTC transferred by Galaxy Research was marked as Coinbase, which is usually associated with intentions to sell. Some of the reactivated addresses also carried the sender tag “noah doe”, which refers to a lawsuit in New York that sought to have thousands of dormant addresses recognized as abandoned property; the trial of this case was suspended by a judge in June.
