According to CoinMeta, Wu said that ondo and finance have announced the launch of a two-way physical-to-token conversion feature for underlying stocks and tokenized stocks, as well as ETF. By integrating with Alpaca's real-time tokenization network (ITN), approved institutions can directly transfer existing stocks into their accounts on ondo within Alpaca, and mint corresponding ondo and stocks tokens. They can also redeem these tokens to retrieve the underlying stocks without having to sell the stocks first to raise cash. This feature is now supported on Ethereum and BNB Chain, and is only available to institutions that have completed the relevant account setup and approval process. ondo stated that this move is expected to reduce the funding costs for market makers and improve the liquidity of the secondary market for tokenized securities.
