Hester Peirce: SEC Innovation Exemption Provides a Phased Path for Tokenized Securities

According to CoinMeta, Wu said that she learned from a recent speech by Commissioner Hester Peirce of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that regarding the "Innovation Exemptions" (innovation exemption) introduced last week for SEC, she believes these exemptions provide a phased path for trading tokenized securities through AMM. The aim is to prevent overseas markets from monopolizing the tokenized securities market in the U.S. and to serve as a bridge to long-term, written regulations. She also criticized the current anti-money laundering (AML) regulatory model of KYC / AML, pointing out that the high-cost approach of blindly expanding the "pile of data" in search of criminal "threads" is largely ineffective and has instead turned the financial system into a "panoramic surveillance prison" that violates privacy. In response, she called on regulators to embrace cryptographic tools such as zero-knowledge proofs (ZKP) and attribute certificates to achieve compliance verification without the need to collect or repeatedly store users' sensitive original data, while also protecting citizens' personal privacy to the greatest extent possible.
