CoinMeta data: As the yield on U.S. Treasury bonds soars to its highest level in 20 years, the outlook for U.S. Treasuries has become more dire. Last Friday, the yield on 10-year Treasury bonds rose to 5.23%, the highest level since 2007, while the yield on 30-year bonds reached 5.49%. Against the backdrop of rising oil prices due to conflicts in the Middle East and AI giants spending billions of dollars each year, the U.S. national debt has reached $40 trillion, and Treasury bond yields have exceeded the long-term forecasts of the Congressional Budget Office. According to the latest forecast released in February, the yield on 10-year bonds was expected to be 4.1%, but the actual situation far exceeds expectations. The director of the Congressional Budget Office stated that if interest rates rise by 1 percentage point, it is estimated that by 2056, the overall deficit will be 4.9 percentage points higher than the baseline, and public debt will reach 222% of GDP.
