CoinMeta US stock news: The Trump administration may take back Citgo from Elliott Management and return it to Venezuela. In November 2025, a federal judge in Delaware ruled to sell Citgo to Elliott Management and its subsidiary Amber Energy. The court believed that Citgo might be responsible for Venezuela's government debts and approved a sale of $9 billion to repay Venezuelan creditors. Although the Trump administration's approval seemed within reach after former Venezuelan leader Maduro was removed from power, eight months later, that approval has yet to appear. The Treasury Department has extended the protection for the sale of Citgo six times, raising doubts about the future of this transaction.
