Yamato Securities: The Bank of Japan's October meeting will focus on interest rate hike voting and political pressure

According to CoinMeta, strategist Kenta Tadaide from Yamato Securities stated that the focus of the Bank of Japan's October meeting will not only be on whether to raise interest rates, but also on how members advocating for further acceleration of inflation will vote, as well as whether the Minister of Economy will attend the meeting. At the September meeting, members Atsushi Asada and Ayano Sato opposed raising interest rates to 1.25%. He pointed out that it is still uncertain whether the members' votes reflect political intentions, but for investors, even the mere possibility of such an impact is of utmost importance. He added that currently, the interest rate differential between the US and Japan remains a factor driving the weakening of the yen, but a self-reinforcing feedback loop is forming: a further weakening of the yen will increase the necessity for interest rate hikes, and at the same time, Japanese and American government officials will issue stronger verbal warnings against yen depreciation.
