According to CoinMeta, the Royal Automobile Club of the UK states that due to the ongoing Middle East wars driving up fuel costs, diesel prices have reached a historic high of 199.18 pence per liter. Gasoline prices are also on the rise, currently selling for 174.13 pence per liter. Over the past seven months, the war in Iran has severely disrupted the production and transportation of wholesale oil in the region, leading to a substantial increase in the prices of fuels made from oil. Since the conflict between the United States and Iran erupted at the end of February, diesel prices have risen by 59 pence per liter, an increase of nearly 40%. The previous record was set in June 2022 at 199.09 pence per liter. This increase means that the cost of filling up a typical family car with diesel is now 110 pounds, which is 31 pounds more than at the start of the conflict. Gasoline prices have currently risen by 41 pence per liter since the conflict began, but they are still far below the peak levels seen in 2022.
