According to CoinMeta, the developers of Solana stated that the launch of the Alpenglow mainnet will not take place on September 28th, despite reports suggesting that this date is approaching. Solana, one of the co-founders, Anatoly Yakovenko, responded to these rumors with one word: “decel,” which implies slowing down the process. Alpenglow is a consensus upgrade aimed at reducing the confirmation time to 150 milliseconds, compared to the current time of about 12.8 seconds. Some media outlets had warned that if the upgrade did not proceed as scheduled, the price of SOL might fall. Rumors regarding the validator timeline were refuted by Anza, the head of research for Roger Wattenhofer, who asked, “Why would we only test the protocol for a few days before activation?” He pointed out that Alpenglow only entered public testing a few days ago. After the clarification, the price of SOL showed little reaction, with the current trading price being $119.85, a decrease of 0.36% within 24 hours.
