Saudi Aramco considers offering discounts for crude oil shipped from Oman waters

According to CoinMeta, Saudi Aramco is considering lowering the official selling price of crude oil loaded in Oman waters ( OSP ) to compensate buyers for the increased costs due to soaring freight rates. This move could help Saudi Aramco regain some of the market share it has lost due to disruptions in oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz. Sources familiar with the matter say that Saudi Aramco is discussing possible official selling price discounts with some Asian refiners to make its crude oil more attractive. The discounts could apply to goods supplied this week, which are planned to be loaded in the second half of October and sold through ship-to-ship transfers near Oman waters. The discount being discussed is approximately $9 per barrel. In recent weeks, as Saudi Arabia has increased the volume of crude oil exported from oil fields within the Gulf, Saudi Aramco has been selling crude oil loaded outside the Strait of Hormuz (i.e., in Oman waters) to Asian buyers at a premium of $10 to $20 per barrel over the monthly official selling price.
