According to CoinMeta, Tether and Shiga have announced plans to launch self-hosted wallets in Africa and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). These wallets will support USD ₮, Bitcoin, and Tether gold. In a statement on September 28th, it was mentioned that these two products will utilize their open-source wallet development toolkit (WDK). One product will be offered directly to users, while another will be provided for institutions building payment and financial services. This initiative continues Tether's investment in Shiga Digital from June 2025. According to the announcement, users will be able to top up their wallets with local currencies, US dollars, or Bitcoin, and hold and transfer USD ₮, Bitcoin, and XAU ₮. The CEO of Paolo Ardoino stated that this will enable the company to create products that allow users to retain control over their assets. The plan also aims to provide Pulse platforms for banks, fintech companies, and other institutional clients to adapt to payment corridors, financial operations, and settlement processes.
