CoinMeta data: The rush to re-stake has come to an end, and top protocols have hardly made any profits by the end of this quarter. ether.fi will cut off the last link between its staked tokens and the re-staking protocol eigenlayer. As of August, less than 1% of assets were still being re-staked. When ether.fi was launched in 2024, deposits would automatically be re-staked on eigenlayer, but in August, the company decoupled the re-staking feature from its circulating tokens weeth, leaving only ordinary liquid staked tokens. Users who wish to re-stake must now choose a separate token built on the competitive platform symbiotic. The CEO of ether.fi, Mike Silagadze, stated that there are no substantial profit opportunities with re-staking, and stakers perceived some risks, hence they decided to withdraw. According to Defillama's data, the re-staking category held $10.02 billion on September 8th and incurred $99,977 in fees over the past week, while the liquid staking category generated $27.35 million on $51.87 billion. In terms of security per dollar, the yield of ordinary staking is approximately 53 times that of re-staking.
