According to CoinMeta, a 24-year-old cybercriminal named Pepijn, van, der, and Stap was arrested in the Netherlands on September 16 for allegedly assisting an encryption hacking organization known as ShinyHunters. Dutch police stated that he will appear before a court in the Rotterdam area on September 29. Van, der, and Stap were convicted of multiple data theft and extortion offenses in 2025 and operated under the name "Umbreon". This arrest occurred six days after ShinyHunters claimed to have attacked and stolen data from 5,000 FBI agents. The leader of this organization, Rey, also merged it with other hacking groups to form a new entity.
