Although OpenAI has promoted modern generative AI chatbots, as the Developer Day event in 2026 approaches, it is falling behind in the popular category of consumer-facing AI agents that are in continuous operation. There are rumors that OpenAI will launch its own AI agent, named Aeon, as a response to Meta's Muse, SpaceX's Grok Bot, OpenClaw, etc. Aeon has the potential to be successful, but to surpass its competitors, it needs to integrate the best features of multiple different agent platforms. The ideal system should be as practical as the open-source OpenClaw and also affordable and easy to use.
