Bitget indicates that the attackers used third-party security products rather than their private keys or cold wallets to carry out the attack. Gracy Chen, the CEO of Bitget, stated that as of UTC at 17:00, 9,585 withdrawal orders had been processed, totaling 4,098.036 BTC. Other assets will be restored in phases by October 2nd. Bitget emphasized that the funds of all affected users will be 100% covered by their protection fund, which currently exceeds $464 million. This incident serves as a reminder to the market that the security risks for exchanges are not limited to private keys; vulnerabilities in operating systems, credentials, or transaction authorization processes can also lead to losses.
