Japanese Finance Minister Reiterates Concerns over Weak Yen

According to CoinMeta, Japanese Finance Minister Toshiko Kataoka stated that the continued weakness of the yen remains a concern for Japan. She pointed out that Japan and the United States will maintain close communication to ensure the orderly operation of the foreign exchange market. Kataoka mentioned that the undervaluation of the yen is a problem and added that financial authorities in Japan and the US will continue to work together to maintain the stability of the foreign exchange market. Previously, she held a telephone conversation with US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, during which both sides reiterated their common concerns about the low valuation of the yen and agreed to further strengthen cooperation. Kataoka also mentioned that Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has stated that she is not a "reflationist," sending a signal that the Japanese government does not seek unlimited expansionary policies.
