Tether: Assisting in the freezing of $550 million associated with Iran USDT

According to CoinMeta, Tether indicates that in 2026, assistance was provided to authorities in freezing nearly $550 million in Iranian-related USDT. The company mentioned in a statement that over $130 million in USDT has been frozen in the past year, and in April, more than $344 million in funds related to the Iranian Central Bank were frozen. The CEO of Tether, Paolo Ardoino, stated that USDT is not a haven for sanction violators, terrorist organizations, or criminal networks. Investigations found that among 846 cryptocurrency wallets associated with Iran, 84% of the transactions were conducted using USDT.
