According to CoinMeta, the shareholders of the Shell-led Canadian liquefied natural gas (LNG) project have made a final investment decision to expand the scale of LNG exports. The second-phase expansion plan of the project, located in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, has officially received investment approval. Once completed, the annual production capacity is expected to double to 28 million tons, with commercial operation set to begin in the early 2030s. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated that Canada has the potential to fill a global energy supply gap and has included the LNG expansion project in the list of major “national construction” projects.
