Japanese Financial Services Agency Supports Stablecoin Trade Settlement Empirical Research
2026-09-29 16:38:03
According to CoinMeta, the Japanese Financial Services Agency announced its support for a pilot project on stablecoin trade settlement. The participating institutions include tradewaltz, NTT Data, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank, Mitsui Sumitomo Banking Corporation, and Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation, totaling six institutions. The experiment began in September and involves connecting tradewaltz with a stablecoin platform. Stablecoin settlements are executed when banks approve the purchase of export accounts receivable, in order to verify practical issues at both technical and legal levels. The experiment plans to use a stablecoin jointly developed by the participating financial institutions, and in the future, research will also be conducted on electronic bills of lading (eB /L) and custody services based on smart contracts.
