Trump has agreed to pursue this idea. The discussions also involve the possibility of future commercial cooperation between the US and Russia in areas such as oil, diesel, rare earth minerals, and other commodities. Last week, Trump announced that the US was negotiating a "large-scale" potash fertilizer deal with Belarus, with Russia also participating in these discussions. If finalized, this would become one of the few exceptions to trade cooperation between the US and Russia since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
