According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Department of Energy plans to lend out 333,300 barrels of emergency heating oil reserves to curb rising oil prices. The Trump administration proposed lending nearly a third of America's 1 million barrels of emergency heating oil reserves to contain the surge in oil prices. Affected by disruptions in Middle Eastern supply due to the Iran war, diesel prices have reached a record high of over $6.50 per gallon. U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry stated that the government is committed to doing everything possible to reduce energy costs. The U.S. Department of Energy will initiate a bidding process for loans targeting fuel retailers and end-users to ensure that fuel reaches areas facing shortages.
