PHP Foundation Admits Delay in Vulnerability Fixing; Multiple Governments Take Hedging Measures
2026-10-22 09:04:54
According to CoinMeta, the PHP Foundation acknowledges that delays in fixing critical security vulnerabilities were due to poor decision-making processes and a shortage of personnel. After Calif and OpenAI reported the vulnerability, PHP released an emergency patch. Government websites in the Netherlands, Finland, France, Germany, and Australia, as well as the Wikimedia Foundation, temporarily suspended their services. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga called on operators to install the patch. Monitoring revealed that 793 out of 1,488 domain names contained the PHP fingerprint. Intersect temporarily shut down its member area, while Coinbase and BitGo stated that they were not affected. Zhao Changpeng reminded users to pay attention to access security. OpenAI published Codex to assist in checking for the vulnerability.
