Vitalik Buterin: Cybersecurity transformation is challenging, requiring more resources
2026-10-22 09:48:45
According to CoinMeta, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin responded to the recent debate over attacks and defenses triggered by the serious security vulnerabilities discovered by AI in PHP. He stated that he believes that in the long run, network security may develop in a manner that favors the defenders, but the transition process will be very difficult. He pointed out that relying solely on security researchers to discover existing software vulnerabilities before hackers cannot fundamentally establish a defensive advantage. To truly change the landscape of attacks and defenses, deep reforms are needed in technical methods, including formal verification and minimizing the reliance on trusted computing foundations (TCB), and these transformations have just begun. He advocates investing more than GDP 1% of resources in network security, biosecurity, and security protection in the real world.
