According to CoinMeta, dragonfly, managing partner Haseeb Qureshi, stated that the field of network security is facing a wave of attacks similar to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the crypto industry becoming the primary target due to its ease of monetization. He believes that hacker incidents on blockchain networks serve as canaries in the coalmine for network security issues. According to Defillama Research data, the number of cyberattacks on blockchains has increased, but the annualized amount stolen is roughly comparable to that of 2025, while the loss per incident has decreased. Most small-scale protocols have been breached, whereas larger protocols have strengthened their defenses with the help of AI tools. He expects a similar situation to emerge in a broader range of internet domains as well.
