According to CoinMeta, Amazon issued settlement refund checks to millions of American consumers, with the checks bearing the name of "the Federal Trade Commission led by President Trump ( FTC )". This occurred a few weeks before the U.S. mid-term elections and involved a $2.5 billion settlement that Amazon agreed to pay due to FTC's accusations that it misled consumers into signing up for Prime membership subscription services. Two former FTC officials revealed that this is the first time the agency has credited funds to a specific president in a refund. The notice attached to the checks mentioned "the Federal Trade Commission led by President Trump ( FTC )" three times.
