Anthropic First update in three years for Claude API: Three commonly used parameters are removed; errors may occur after upgrading the old code.
2026-10-22 12:21:37
According to CoinMeta, Anthropic has released a new version of Claude API, marking the first official update since June 2023. This update removes three commonly used parameters: temperature, `top_p`, and `top_k`, which were originally used to control the randomness and generation method of the model's responses. If the old code still passes in these parameters, it will directly result in an error. Anthropic plans to update API more frequently in the future to allow developers to adapt to any potential compatibility issues brought about by the new model in advance. The new version of SDK has also been updated accordingly, with `2026-10-21` set as the default date. However, the old version `2023-06-01` can still be used, and existing projects do not need to migrate immediately.
