According to CoinMeta, Lee Eui-yon, the chairman of the Financial Services Commission of South Korea, stated during a parliamentary hearing that government consultations on the Digital Assets Basic Act have entered their final stage, and the government will push for the enactment of the bill. The bill covers licensing systems for cryptocurrency exchanges, regulations for the issuance of stablecoins, and legal definitions. South Korea's cryptocurrency taxation plan, originally scheduled to be implemented on January 1, 2027, has faced controversy, with two petitions calling for the abolition or postponement of the tax levy both reaching the threshold of 50,000 signatures. Kim Min-sik, the leader of the Democratic Party, said that he is reviewing opinions from all parties and proposed that it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive review of the taxation plan. The South Korean National Tax Service plans to complete the draft digital assets taxation notice by October 30.
