According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, Circle shareholder Benjamin Greenberg has filed a lawsuit in the Washington Federal Court against U.S. President Donald Trump and the crypto project World Liberty Financial founded by his family. The lawsuit alleges that Trump illegally profited from two transactions involving the United Arab Emirates, violating the U.S. Constitution's "Foreign Emoluments Clause," and that he damaged the interests of Circle shareholders through unfair competition. The transactions in question include an investment entity supported by a member of the UAE royal family acquiring 49% of World Liberty for $500 million, as well as an Abu Dhabi MGX fund using its stablecoin USD1 to complete a $2 billion investment in Binance. The plaintiff requests the court to prohibit such unconstitutional activities, recover illegal gains, and impose damages. Circle emphasizes that the lawsuit was initiated by the individual shareholder, and the company itself is not involved. World Liberty denies the allegations, stating that its operations comply with U.S. laws and regulations.
