Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission: No formal applications for Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF have been received yet
2026-10-23 10:57:41
According to CoinMeta, the Thai Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) stated that although several asset management institutions have inquired about spot trading of Bitcoin and Ethereum (ETF), no formal applications have been received yet, and it is therefore not possible to confirm whether such products will be listed in 2026. The new framework, which came into effect on October 16, allows licensed asset management companies to establish passive funds (ETF) that track a single qualified asset. These funds currently include Bitcoin and Ethereum, with an annual average net exposure of at least 80% invested in the tracked assets. The products can only be traded on the Thai Securities Exchange and must use digital asset custodian institutions approved by the SEC. Securities companies are not allowed to provide guarantees regarding retail investors' participation after the products are listed, but they must complete risk education and confirm the associated risks.
