According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced its regulatory inspection priorities for the fiscal year 2027 on October 23, focusing on the tokenization of securities and related changes in market infrastructure, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity. The SEC stated that the inspection plan will cover more than 34,000 registered entities, including investment advisors, investment funds, brokerage traders, and clearing institutions. Regulators will focus on assessing the risks brought about by changes in market infrastructure such as tokenization and the reform of U.S. Treasury bond clearing, as well as the impact of advanced technologies like superintelligence on market operations, compliance, anti-fraud measures, and investor protection. Other key areas of inspection include complex high-risk investment products, private equity funds, private lending, anti-money laundering compliance, cybersecurity, and customer information protection.
