According to CoinMeta, as reported by Benzinga, on Thursday the Nasdaq Composite Index recorded its worst performance since June, falling by 2.60% to close at 26,008.86 points. The S&P 500 Index declined by 1.21% to close at 7,663.43 points, while the Dow Jones Index remained almost unchanged, rising slightly by about 12 points to close at 52,867.98 points. Tech stocks were the main drag on the market; Meta Platforms ($META) fell by about 7% after releasing its quarterly earnings, and Nvidia ($NVDA) as well as Ultramicro (AMD) also saw significant declines. Tesla ($TSLA) fell by about 3% following the release of its third-quarter financial report, adding to the pressure on stocks related to AI. Despite relatively strong economic data, with the initial jobless claims dropping to 194,000, below the expected 200,000, market sentiment deteriorated significantly. The Fear & Greed Index of CNN dropped from 27 to 20, further entering the “extreme fear” zone. This index tracks seven equally weighted market indicators ranging from zero to 100, where lower readings indicate increased investor fear, while higher readings reflect a stronger appetite for risk.
