The U.S. says Iran's threat has risen to the highest level since the beginning of the war

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by The New York Times, U.S. officials stated on Friday local time that intelligence indicates that Iran's attack plans against Americans have entered a later stage. The U.S. government has urged personnel in the Middle East to heighten their vigilance and has begun to reduce the number of staff at its embassies and consulates in the region. On the same day, intelligence agencies issued a warning to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, reminding him of the security risks faced by U.S. State Department employees in the Middle East and other regions. The Trump administration subsequently confirmed this memo. U.S. officials said that intelligence assessments show that the threats against Americans in the Middle East and several other countries have reached their highest level since the outbreak of hostilities in February. Trump and his senior aides regularly receive briefings on the matter. Over the past three weeks, analysts have been reviewing threat intelligence targeting U.S. officials, including ambassadors. Some of the information suggests that Iran may have deployed operatives within U.S. territory, and their plans also involve potential targets in Europe. However, another official pointed out that Iran's ability to launch attacks in the United States and other overseas areas is limited, and their intent to attack is stronger than their actual capability to carry out such attacks.
