According to CoinMeta, Meta acquired Sundial, a data analytics company previously used by OpenAI, with the transaction amount not being disclosed. The two founders of Sundial, Julie Zhuo and Chandra Narayanan, were both former executives at Meta. The company had previously raised a total of 23 million US dollars in funding. After the transaction is completed, the two will return to Meta with their teams, and Sundial will cease external services. OpenAI has utilized Sundial to analyze the growth data of ChatGPT; Sundial is capable of querying and cleaning data in natural language, as well as automatically identifying anomalies. In July of this year, Meta appointed its first Chief Data Officer, Alex Schultz, and has already begun promoting analytics within the company. Following the acquisition, Narayanan will be responsible for the research and development of data analysis tools and agent. Schultz plans to have AI proactively identify issues, design and execute experiments, and seek opportunities for improvement, with the ultimate goal of building a company that becomes "better and better at self-improvement."
