According to CoinMeta, Hamid Boavad, Iran's acting minister of petroleum, stated that Iran will pursue closer natural gas cooperation with Russia and other member countries at the Gas Exporting Countries Forum ( GECF ) summit being held in Moscow, with a focus on oil and gas field development, natural gas swaps, and coordination of export policies. Before setting off for Moscow on Sunday to attend the eighth Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit of heads of state and government, Boavad said that Iran would present its position at the meeting and hold bilateral talks with relevant ministers to discuss cooperation matters. He noted that participants should discuss issues such as protecting energy infrastructure during wartime, expanding natural gas swaps, exploring the establishment of a common market, and coordinating international export policies. Boavad added that Iran maintains good relations with Russian energy companies, has signed contracts for oil and gas field development with them, and is currently in negotiations regarding natural gas swaps.
