CoinMeta Data: Electrum wallet has released version 4.8.3 to fix a high-risk Bitcoin wallet vulnerability. This vulnerability was exploited by malicious servers, resulting in user payments being redirected. Developers confirmed that at least one case of funds theft occurred. According to a security announcement on October 24th, attackers took advantage of the way Electrum handles unconfirmed Bitcoin transactions to replace legitimate payments with fraudulent ones, and users may have authorized these fraudulent transactions without their knowledge. Electrum is a lightweight Bitcoin wallet that connects to external servers to retrieve transaction history, broadcasts, and other network information. The new version fixes this critical security issue, and developers recommend that all users upgrade.
