RBA Assistant Governor Hunter: The process of raising interest rates to combat inflation is not over yet
2026-10-25 19:02:13
According to CoinMeta, Assistant Governor of the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA), Helen Hunt, stated that the central bank's interest rate hike campaign against inflation "is not over yet." This signals that at the policy meeting at the beginning of next month, the RBA is likely to raise rates again. In a Sunday interview, Hunt discussed the impact of high interest rates on consumers and housing prices, mentioning that the board has already implemented four rate hikes this year. She also noted that market expectations for another rate hike at the meeting on November 3 have increased. Previously, RBA Vice Governor Philip Lowe indicated that the current inflation outlook has "significantly worsened" compared to the bank's assessment in August. In late September, the RBA raised interest rates to 4.6%, the highest level in 15 years.
