CoinMeta data: Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX acknowledges losing approximately $15.99 million due to attackers stealing funds from its old wallet. This confirmation was made three days after blockchain investigator ZachXBT first reported the suspected theft. Sumit Gupta, co-founder of CoinDCX, initially denied this claim, stating that it was just a rumor. In a statement, CoinDCX mentioned that abnormal activity was detected on October 21st, and irregular fund movements were identified the following day. The investigation found that the infrastructure of the old wallet was compromised in a security incident on July 19, 2025, and still held funds because the automatic cleanup service did not function properly. This service was intended to transfer deposits from user addresses to secure operation wallets, but the deposits made to the old addresses were not transferred to the main wallet. On October 21st, attackers stole $15.99 million USDT and 5,784 TRX. CoinDCX stated that the company will bear the full loss.
