Bitcoin Falls Below $80,000 as Concerns Rise over the Iranian Situation
2026-10-26 20:18:42
CoinMeta data: Bitcoin fell below $80,000 this weekend, with the current price at $80,160, representing a weekly decline of 2.4%. This drop occurred after The Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday that the United States is rapidly withdrawing its diplomatic personnel and military bases from the Middle East. Jay Clayton, Director of National Intelligence, pointed out in a memo to Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Iran has significantly increased its attacks on U.S. personnel. Ethereum and Solana fell by 3.8% and 3.2% respectively. Despite the poor performance of most major cryptocurrencies, the privacy coin Zcash rose by 8% this week and has gained 135% since the beginning of the year. This week will see the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions, and markets expect volatility.
